【摘要】:Thispracticeprovidesameansofassuringthatproductssuppliedduringshipconstructionandmaintenancearesubstantiallythesameasthematerialsonwhichtheoriginalselectionwasbased.Theselectionofapaintforshipboardusefrequentlyinvolveslaboratoryandfieldevaluationsofcandidatematerialsaspartofthespecificationprocess.Whenapaintisselected,itshallhavethesamecompositionandcharacteristicsthroughoutthedeliveryperiodasthematerialsoriginallyevaluated.5.1.1Whensignificantchangesincompositionorpaintcharacteristicsareobserved,itisnecessarytodeterminethecauseofthechange(productionerrororformulationchange)anditsimpactoncoatingperformance.Actionstotakeifaformulationchangeisrequiredarespecifiedin6.5.Thispracticeisnotmeanttocoverallpossiblechemicalorphysicalteststhatmaybeusedtoidentifyacoating.Additionaltestsmaybeneededtomeetspecificuserneeds.Thispracticedoesnotrecommendspecifictolerancelimitsforthetestsindicated.Tolerancevaluesneedtobeagreeduponbythecoatingsupplier,theshipbuilder,andtheship’owner.Thispracticedoesnotestablishcriticalattributesthatmustbecontrolled.Theseattributesareselectedbytheshipbuilderandtheship’ownerbasedonspecificneeds(forexample,colors).1.1Thispracticeprovidesthequalitycontrolreceiptinspectionproceduresforprotectivecoatings(paints)procuredforenditemuseonshipsandothermarinestructures.Thepracticeincludesmethodsandproceduresforverifyingthatcoatingmaterialsreceivedarewithintherangeofphysicalandchemicalcharacteristicsasthoseoriginallyspecifiedandtested.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcernsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
